How the mining profit calculator works

Mining profitability comes down to a simple idea: your share of the network's total hashrate determines your share of the coins mined each day. Our calculator estimates your earnings using this formula:

Daily coins = (your hashrate ÷ network hashrate) × blocks per day × block reward

From there we multiply by the live coin price to get your gross revenue, subtract your mining pool's fee, then subtract electricity cost — calculated from your rig's power draw and your local $/kWh rate. What's left is your true daily profit. Enter a hardware price and we also show your ROI (payback period) and the exact electricity price at which your rig breaks even.

To get the most accurate numbers, set your real electricity rate and pool fee. Electricity is the single biggest factor in whether an ASIC is profitable — a miner that prints money at $0.05/kWh can lose money at $0.15/kWh. Read our mining guides to learn how to squeeze the most profit from your hardware.
